Tuesday we explored into Estes Park, across scenic canyons and into the Rocky Mountains. Cohen got to meet new friends at the off-leash dog park and tired himself out in the pond. We decided to tire ourselves out at the New Belgium brewery where we found a delicous Belgium Triple.
Wednessday we drove around Trail Ridge Road, the highest paved road in the US. It led us across the Rockies with the highest point in the road being higher than Mt. Washington's peak. From there we drove through Winter Park and along a rediculously curvy highway, into Boulder. Here, we werent sure where to check out, so when in doubt, head to the nearest brewery!! We had our lunch/dinner at the Colorado Brewing Co, where Marc found his beloved Sweaty Betty wheat beer. We preceded to the Left Hand brewery in Longmont where we found an imperial stout which was so chocolately/ coffee like that I could drink it for breakfast every morning if it was not for the 10.5% ABV!!! We spent that night drinking some of the beers and playing cards under a covering in a warm thunder storm.
Today, Thursday, we are in Denver in a motel, where we will be for the next 5 nights after overlooking the holiday weekend and realizing there were no free spots at the campgrounds for the next week! The break will be good for us though, especially for my swollen feet. Yes, the inevitable has happened and I was attacked by mosquitos on my ankles, toes, in between toes and of course under my feet!! For the next few days, we plan on visiting breckenridge, vail, aspen, etc with hopes that we will see less bikers and maybe some more breweries.
