mountains are prettier with snow...

Friday morning we set off to the mountains only to get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic a few miles out of Denver on I-70 our new favorite road to hate. We solved that problem with a quick U-turn and headed out to Colorado Springs. There, we climbed Pikes Peak, the mountain which 'America the Beautiful' was inspired from. Marc will insist that the peak is used as a terrorist meeting point. Whatever the motive, it had a gorgeous view.

It was a very educational experience, we learned about the beaver-like animals, the marmot and we learned that passing downhill on a mountain auto road is not only acceptable, but encouraged. We hit 4,000 miles and from there, we headed to the Phantom Canyon Brewery. They served great beers, but beleives that giving you an entire head of romaine drizzled with dressing and cheese on a plate next to ciabatta bread and a steak knive is the equivalent to a caesar salad.

Leaving the restaurant, we got stuck in a downpour, which are common for Denver afternoons and headed back to our hotel room in Wheat Ridge where we passed out after a long day.
